Characters aid in the relay of stories, because they communicate values, morals, and situations that are difficult to talk about or catapult the audience into a world of fantasy. Their ability to capture the attention of the audience is essential to a good tale. Therefore, a reader must be able to feel the environment as surely as if they were actually in it.
